Every student at the College has a designated Mentor Teacher. This relationship is central to the student’s academic progress, as well as their personal development. Students and their Mentor teacher meet every week, as a group, in the Mentor lesson where students planning for ILT, organisation and workload are checked and monitored. Every term, the Mentor Teacher meets with the student for an in-depth, one-on-one conversation on their progress, their goals and their wellbeing.
Mentor Teachers are trained in coaching techniques to understand and develop each student’s capabilities. By working with the student over time, they become a stable and trusted source of guidance.
Four concepts guide the discussion:
- Head: academic progress
- Heart: emotional well-being and relationships with others
- Hands: involvement in the College and the wider community
- Spirit: mindfulness, self-reflection and search for meaning
A report from each meeting is provided to parents, to help the College to partner with families in wrapping support around the student.
The Mentor Teacher is also available to students and families at any time outside the arranged meetings, for encouragement, advice and support. Parents and students can also access the Student Wellbeing page on Moodle for excellent resources and links!

CINDERS - Immensely Entertaining Show
Yesterday, CINDERS launched with a preview showing to our feeder schools and special guests. The feedback we received from them was extremely positive and they were so grateful to have had the opportunity to come.
After such a success in the afternoon, the students out did themselves at the Opening Night! The full house was treated to a stunningly choreographed and acted show that entranced the expectant audience.
The show was full of energy throughout the performance, from the extremely talented musicians, the fabulous singing, dancing and acting, the highly-skilled tech team and the magicians who seamlessly changed sets.
I am incredibly proud of each student who has committed themselves all year to the creation of CINDERS and all of whom stepped up to produce such a polished and immensely entertaining show. Your teachers and mentors are very proud of you all.
I also congratulate the fabulous staff who have given up so much of their own time to make the show happen. The script was skillfully written, hitting a chord with the audience at so many levels, and so absolutely relevant to today. It is because of their professionalism and creative efforts that CINDERS is a visually and emotionally thrilling show.
Let’s do the Time Warp again!
Well done to everyone involved.

Electives Reminder - Year 9 & 10 2022
Year 9 and 10 Electives 2022
REMINDER
A reminder that Web Preferences is now OPEN for students currently in Years 8 and 9, so they can indicate their preferences for electives for Years 9 and 10, 2022. Selections CLOSE on Monday, Week 4, 2 August, 9:00 am.
This will be a two-stage process:
- Students currently in Years 8 and 9 nominate eight (8) preferences the four (4) Electives that they will take next year. This data feeds directly into the creation of the 2022 timetable. Student selections determine if specific electives run and how many classes of each elective are filled, limited by the availability of specialist rooms and teachers.
- Student allocations will be communicated and students may request a change dependent on space and other student movements (Term 4).
It is anticipated that there will be no movement of students between electives at the start of 2022. No student will be allocated an elective not on their list. Students who do not make their selection by the deadline may be allocated to available spaces once the timetable is created.
Week 2, Friday 23 July: Web Preferences opened to students to select electives – unit descriptions can be accessed through this program.
Week 4, Monday 2 August: Web Preferences close to students.
Term 4: Publication of allocations; one week opportunity to reselect max two (2) electives.
