All of our ACT Catholic Schools will have a pupil free day on the first day of Term 2, Monday 19 April. The day is dedicated to professional learning for teachers.
Our director Ross Fox thanks all parents and carers for their understanding with regard to this. He points out in his letter the importance of providing support for the learning and development of teachers and school staff. This directly contributes to enhanced teaching skills and therefore enhanced outcomes for our students.

Parent Student Teacher Interviews
JPC has undertaken a new initiative, the Parent Portal, to provide parents with access to key information about their students.
Your registration and access to the Parent Portal is required to book appointments for the upcoming Parent-Student-Teacher interviews (Families A-M on Wednesday 31 March; Families N-Z on Thursday 22 April). Interview dates have been allocated to ensure attendance rates are in line with current COVID-19 protocols. As we progress this initiative, the Parent Portal will become more and more significant in your day to day management of your student's enrolment at JPC.
If you have not received an email with registration information, please contact: JPCPortal@cg.catholic.edu.au to register a valid email address.

Archbishop Christopher Prowse stopped in to chat with our Youth Ministry Team and Senior RE classes this week as part of his school visits across the Archdiocese during Lent.
He was very impressed with the articulate manner in which our Youth Ministry Team members expressed what it means for them to be part of this faith formation group in our school.
The visit was made even more special to students when His Grace shared his personal faith journey and answered their challenging questions.

St John Paul II College would like to thank Mark Bissonnette and Bibi Voyles from the US Embassy for leading our Global Studies students through a diplomatic simulation on Wednesday. They had meticulously prepared an engaging exercise where the students role played as various groups responding to an incident in the South China Sea. As always, Mark and Bibi were dynamic in their presentation, and so warm in how they led the students through this activity. The JPC Students responded with enthusiasm and strategic decision making, as they made their way through the constantly evolving scenario.
This opportunity affirmed the value of the USA and Australia partnership, and our nations role as a force multiplier in achieving shared global aims. JPC is proud of our ongoing relationship with the US Embassy.

Hospitality & Food Tech Happenings!
This week in Hospitality students made fresh green pasta using spinach and herbs from the garden to sell in the canteen on Friday. Vegetarian for lent. We had 2 toppings – lentil bolognaise and roasted cauliflower lemon & ricotta!
All food scraps left from cooking in these class are composted in the JPC garden.
Year 9/10 Food Tech Mrs Murphy and Ms Daley’s classes made French Patisserie tarts as part of our ‘World of Food’ unit with amazing results. Well done students!!”

Last Friday some of our staff and students took part in Clean Up Australia Day. The teachers each led a group of students to different parts of the school to pick up rubbish. We picked up things as small as ripped pieces of wrappers to huge sheets of metal!
I would like to thank everyone involved in the clean-up and take this opportunity to remind everyone if you see rubbish where it shouldn’t be, pick it up and put it in the bin.

On Monday, selected JPC students participated in the ACT School Futsal Titles at the Canberra Futsal Centre in Fadden. All students played their hearts out and demonstrated great qualities of skill, leadership and sportsmanship throughout the day.
All teams managed to make the Semi/Grand Finals with the u14 Boys and Girls both taking out the title in their age groups in nail-biting matches against Merici College and Radford College.
A huge congratulations to all students who participated on the day and we look forward to future Futsal competitions with these students.

Dear Parents/Guardians,
Due to the continual growth of our Extra-Curricular Music ensembles, we will be applying a limit to the number of groups our students are allowed to participate in, commencing from Term 2. Students will only be able to take part in a maximum of two extra-curricular groups during ILT times. This does not include out of hours groups such as production crew and senior bands. This is to allow more new students access to these groups and also ensure that all students are fulfilling their ILT requirements.
If you have any questions regarding this, please email either Aron Lyon at aronlyon@hotmail.com or Sharon Robinson at sharon.robinson@cg.catholic.edu.au.
Thanks!!

Rugby League Girls (14-16) Holiday Camp
With the large growth rate of girls playing rugby league we are offering girls aged 14-16 within ACT and surrounds a wonderful opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge in a supportive and encouraging environment.
Registrations are initially open to ACT girls, NSW schools within the Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn and Clubs that participate in the CRRL competition. There are limited places available for this fabulous opportunity to develop our girls.
This camp has been a culmination of work between NSWRL and ACT Schools Rugby League as we are keen to develop our players and provide opportunities for them to grow their skills and work towards representative honours.
Basketball ACT School Holiday Camps
BACT’s School Holiday Camps registrations have opened for the April school holidays. Please take note that the Tuggeranong and Belconnen camps are in slightly different formats:
Belconnen (in partnership with Canberra Caps)
- 3 days
- 9am-12pm
- $160
Tuggeranong
- 2 days
- 9am-3pm
- $210
These camps are aimed at kids aged 5-15 years old with little or less than 2 years’ experience playing basketball. This is a good way for kids to get a feel for the game if they are not already involved in a program or club.
For more information please visit our website where you will also find the registration links.
