Dear Parents and Carers,
At St John Paul II College we encourage, promote and recognise student academic achievement in all curriculum areas from Year 7 to Year 12. Through our mentoring program, students articulate their goals and provide feedback about their learning to their mentor teachers. It is hoped that through these rewarding conversations students strive to do their very best in each of their classes.
Our awards ceremony, which occurred on Thursday, acknowledges the student's tremendous efforts and celebrates their success of Semester One, 2022. The award ceremony recognised students for their Academic Excellence, Growth Mindset, House Spirit and Respect and sporting achievements.
We congratulate all students who may have been successful in their endeavours and who have reached their goals.
The ceremony has been filmed and the link will be sent to award recipient families soon.
The feast day of St Mary Mackillop of the Cross takes place on the 8th of August. St Mary MacKillop was an educator, a pioneer and a leader. A woman who worked tirelessly to provide education for children that lived in the bush or did not have access to a school. Her motto:
‘never see a need without doing something about it’
St Mary MacKillop saw the need and guided by the Gospels, she assisted the poor and the marginalised. She provided the education and taught life skills to transform lives.
As Pope John Paul II said:
“Think of Mother Mary MacKillop and learn from her to be a gift of love and compassion to one another, for all Australians and for the world." January 1995
I highly encourage all students to learn from St Mary MacKillop’s’ actions and ensure that they are compassionate, caring and supportive of their peers and family members. And finally, if they do see a need, they do something about it.
Have a great week.
Warm regards,
Jessica Stokman
