Message from Kathleen Garvie - Assistant Principal
This week the Church Celebrated
This semester has flown by and we find ourselves with only two weeks left before holidays. It's hard not to stop and take a moment to reflect on all the positive opportunities and experiences of this semester.
In a similar way, the fest of the Most Holy Trinity, celebrated last weekend in the Catholic Church, allows us as a religious community to reflect on God present to us. The whole of the Church’s life flows from the central belief that the one true God exists as three divine Persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Since the very beginning of time, God has gradually shown himself to humanity. We can encounter God in the trinity in many ways, for example, through a beautiful sunset, children’s laughter, or in someone who comforts us when life is not going as it should.
There are many ways we can encounter God in our own community. One of these is through our own community Mass once a fortnight at 8.30 am in the chapel on even weeks. This is an opportunity for our community to come together, reflect and celebrate. All staff, students and parents are welcome to join.
Vinnies Sleep Out – Donations needed!!
The Vinnies sleep out Is happening next week. We have a number of staff and students who are going to brave the cold in support of those in our community who are homeless or use the services of St Vincent de Paul. Please give generously to this important cause. Donations can be made via the link below.
Senior Exams
It has been a big week for our Seniors Students, with exams starting on Tuesday, and running through until Tuesday next week. We congratulate all students on the way they have conducted themselves and the time and effort put into preparing for these tests. The exam period ends with an AST practice for both years 11 and 12. This is important preparation for the actual task that will be completed in Term 3 of Year 12.
All seniors have been invited to lunch next Wednesday to celebrate their achievements this semester. We are inviting students to share with each other their experiences of the semester. In this, we hope to recognise the importance of having a growth mindset in senior years, as this leads to improvement and can open the door to many new opportunities.
Independent Learning Time Review
This week we ran our final focus groups for staff and parents in relation to the ILT Review. Thank you to the representatives of our parent body who came along to support the process and share their experiences. Over the past few weeks, we have had many staff, parents and students who contributed to the review by completing the survey or being part of the focus group. We look forward to sharing with the community these findings in Term 3.
We wish our students well as they complete the final two weeks of Term 2.
Regards,

JPC First Nation’s Bush Tucker garden completed!
Joint whole school inclusive project
Students and volunteer staff participated in a cultural incursion on Wednesday 15th June to help finish off our JPC Native Bush tucker garden.
The Senior Tech students, with Beau Nebelung and Andrew Rose, executed the First Nation’s students' plan and did an amazing job with the structural work, planting and the Billabong. Many thanks to them for their involvement in this project which has been months and years in the planning.
Our incursion involved painting the 6 House Themed 'Garden Story' Poles, setting up the firepit with our painted pebbles and planting more native edible plants (a grant from Greening Australia) around the Billabong. It looks beautiful. Special thanks to Veronica, Megan, Ally, Mardi, Natasha, Jono and Tori.

Thank you, Isabelle Gibb, Yr 8 (Ferré)
I would like to acknowledge the hard work and patience Isabelle put into coaching and umpiring a year 5/6 team during the Netball Primary Schools Gala Day on Thursday 16 June. The students she coached had never played netball before and had only been exposed to it at school. By the end of the day, the group of students were playing as a team and had more of an idea of the structure of how the game is played.
I would like to thank Isabelle for her time today and I hope so can be recognised for her efforts.

WATERPOLO CHAMPIONSHIPS
Georgia Ellison, Yr 11 played on the ACT team in the U22 Col Smee Championship in Sydney. Luckily the weather is milder in Sydney as half the games were played in outdoor pools! The girls ended up 6th in a tough competition, and Georgia punched above her weight against much older athletes.
Hamish Ellison, Yr 9 played in the ACT Blue team at the U15 Delfina Interstate Championship in Melbourne. His team came home with the bronze medal and he was the second-highest goal scorer of the competition by one goal. Hamish was also one of seven players named on the Tournament Team (selected by officials as the best players over the three days of competition).
Congratulations Georgia and Hamish for an outstanding effort!
