Dear Parents and Carers,
Despite the many challenges that COVID continues to present, we have had a very positive first term.
Some wonderful student efforts…
I have been continuously impressed by the positivity that our students have displayed and the efforts that they have made over the term. They have cheerfully accepted the constraints of constant mask wearing and other restrictions and we have seen some wonderful examples of students reflecting on their growth, both as learners and as self-aware young people. It is inspiring to see students making real efforts to improve academically. An example is the attendance at the Maths tutoring sessions where we have consistently had over forty students attend every week – almost fifty last week!
A very active student leadership team….
Our Year 12 College leaders and Year 11 House leaders have been particularly active in organising events – within COVID restrictions - to bring the community together. An example was the staff versus Year 12 students Futsal competition held at lunch time today. It was wonderfully organised by our leaders and – much to the chagrin of staff – I have to report that the students were far too strong for their opponents, winning 5-0!
Another example was the inter house Year 7 sporting competitions organised by the Year 11 House leaders in an effort to give them some of the fun they missed by not being able to go on Camp during the term.
And efforts for Lent and Caritas
Another wonderful effort run by our College Leaders has been the fundraising for Caritas. They have organised many events that have built community whilst raising awareness and money for those who are so much less fortunate than ourselves. They have also encouraged generosity without expectation of something in return, in the form of the daily invitation for students to donate to the Project Compassion Boxes.
Looking towards Easter…
Our Lenten efforts will culminate in the Easter Liturgy to be held this afternoon. It is fitting that this will be our final time together this term. We will reflect together on the great significance of the Easter events – the Last Supper, Christ’s death and His rising at Easter. It is the most important time in our Church year. I would recommend to you the Easter ceremonies at your local Church or where you may be travelling.
I wish you a wonderful break and some special family time. Thank you for all of your support of us during the term. We look forward to coming together in Term 2.

Staff v Yr 12 Students - Futsal
Today the year 12 students took on the JPC staff in a Futsal competition. The students played really well convincingly beating the staff 5-0. All Year 12s involved should be very proud of their efforts, as well as the excellent teamwork, leadership and sportsmanship demonstrated both during, and in organising and facilitating the event. Particular mentions to Gaby and Derick our Courage Leaders, and Will Kelly for photographing the event. There will be plenty more Staff V Year 12 events coming up so keep your eye out!
During PC this morning, Ferré staff and students become Easter bunnies and shared lots of Easter eggs!
Ferré staff wish all students and their families a safe and Happy Easter.

In a tough match, against an undefeated Tuggeranong Vikings team, they finished as runners up. A fantastic achievement to make the finals in the first place.
Well done boys!

Tessa and Riley’s Canberra Nationals U14 teams have completed two rounds of competitions including last weekend in Wollongong whereby they won all games except for one. The girls will be travelling to Albury, NSW with their teams to compete in round 3 during the last weekend of the April school holidays. They will be ready to play against a number of teams including Goulburn, Tumut, Shoalhaven and Queanbeyan.
Wish them luck!!
