Ration Challenge (13-19 September)
Miss Alyssa Markmann
Throughout this week, many student volunteers have written letters to the elderly who are in aged care homes and are isolated. The program called ConnectedAU has organised these letters to be delivered to nursing homes around Australia.
JPC Students have written OVER 50 LETTERS! Here’s hoping we receive some replies.
Congratulations to all students who participated for showing excellent community spirit!

Senior Fashion Students visited Spotlight
Last Friday Senior Fashion Students visited Spotlight as part of their unit this semester Designing for a Purpose during their actual class time.
Students were looking at fabrics and identifying those suitable for their upcoming practical project where they are making an item suitable for a future job interview. The girls also took time to look at the pattern books for ideas to assist them in their choice for their practical project and creating an item suitable for an interview.

Thank you to Cooper Bush (Year 8, Van Thuan) and Ms Sharon Robinson for the beautiful live meditative music enjoyed by some of our Year 9 students at recess today.
Each Friday at 2:10 PM we will have a live performance and meditative prayer through music called “Chill in the Chapel”, where anyone can join us in the Chapel and take some time out of our busy day for a few moments of quiet contemplation.

The Reality of the Drama Classroom: part 2
The Drama classroom is a space to break out of the norm and learn through practical experiences. These learning experiences are relevant and powerful to last well beyond the classroom walls.
In Drama we don’t like desks. We love space and usually need lots of it. Unfortunately, an active Drama classroom without chairs and desks in neat little rows looks like chaos to the uninitiated. But rest assured, we are learning and this is a shared experience by students and teacher.
In Drama we make noise. You see, more often than not, we have to make noise in order to produce our drama plays. Some of our highest quality work in Drama happens while we are making noise. As a result, we learn collaboratively better than most, problem-solve as much as others, experiment every lesson (we just don’t call them ‘experiments’) and do ‘presentations’ in class all the time!
In Drama we build confidence. ‘Confidence?’, I hear you say. It’s that life skill every young person needs but few subjects at school really cater for. We are so confident about confidence we would even argue it is a by-product of our study, yet still offer you a guarantee of obtaining confidence if you study Drama. Other students begin a course in Drama with little confidence and leave at the end with a healthy dose of confidence needed for good living!
To experience some of these benefits, join us for “Theatre Thursdays”; a lunchtime Drama club. See you there!
