End-of-Year Reflections
As we approach the conclusion of another remarkable school year, it is time to reflect on the numerous accomplishments and memorable moments our students have shared. This year has been characterised by growth, learning, and a strong sense of community.
Summative Assessment
Our students have once again demonstrated exceptional academic performance. From science fairs to math competitions, our scholars have excelled in various fields. Special congratulations to our graduating class, who have secured early admissions to universities throughout the region. Last week, Year 10 completed their examinations, with Years 7 to 9 working diligently throughout the week. It is important to remember that summative assessments, such as examinations, are just one measure of a child's understanding of the content taught.
Co-curricular Success
During Week 5, The Arts faculty hosted many enthusiastic and motivated students who auditioned for roles in our upcoming production of "Willy Wonka." This show promises to be filled with excitement and creativity, featuring hornswogglers, snozzwangers, and snozzberries. Good luck to the cast and crew in their preparations and thank you to the dedicated staff who are taking on this delicious spectacular in 2025.
Year 12 Community
Last Thursday, students at JPC had the opportunity to bid farewell to Year 12 individually at their House assemblies before gathering as a College to say our goodbyes. The Year 12 assembly was a wonderful way to honour our graduates. The assembly also included a leadership handover, with the passing of our College and portfolio candles to our incoming captains. The event concluded with a touching walk down memory lane, courtesy of a video prepared by College Captain Lauren Murphy. As a teacher, this time of year helps us to remember the journey so many of our students have had, being able to watch students grow and develop through their education journey is truly one of the most rewarding parts of the job.
A big thank you goes to Mrs Kelly Candy for her leadership in organising this event.
2024 Spirit Cup
Congratulations to Maathai House for being crowned the 2024 Spirit Cup champions! The announcement was made at the Year 12 Farewell Assembly by our incoming College Captains, Sofia and Harry. This award celebrates a year of dedication, teamwork, and school spirit, with points earned through carnival performances, attendance at school events, and student achievements. Maathai House has demonstrated outstanding effort and enthusiasm throughout the year. Well done to all in Maathai.
Looking Ahead
As we bid farewell to this school year, we also look forward to the exciting opportunities that await us in the next. St John Paul II College will welcome Year 12 for their formal this week, followed by Graduation next week at the Cathedral. We also look forward to welcoming our 2025 Year 7 cohort, who will participate in their orientation day before we conclude the year with our Year 7-10 End of Year Mass.
As we celebrate this festive season, may your days be filled with joy, peace, and cherished moments with loved ones. Stay safe and take care of yourselves and each other during this time.

JPC 2025 Timetable - 7 Day Timetable
To create a timetable, that reflects the needs and wants of our timetable, we will be moving, to a less traditional 7-day timetable. To facilitate the transition to the new 7-day timetable, we will set fixed days for each rotation at the beginning of the academic year. This consistency will help students and families plan effectively, reducing confusion about daily schedules. A comprehensive calendar of days will be included in the school diary, with copies made available to parents in the new year. This initiative aims to enhance communication and provide support for students, ensuring everyone stays informed about the daily structure and special events throughout the term.

Community Council Open Forum - Who to Contact
I would like to express my thanks and gratitude to the 13 parents who attended our first open forum on Tuesday 12 November. In being true partners in education, we are all stronger when we come together to discuss the education of your (and our) children. I look forward to other opportunities in the future for our parent community to suggest ideas, get involved, and raise their questions and concerns.
We are hoping to provide increased opportunities to build community in 2025, so please keep alert for invitations to attend various events, information evenings, expos and open nights.
Further to our meeting last week, I provide a “Who to contact” list below for the information of parents/carers.

As the 2024 school year draws to a close, we celebrate the success of the Tutoring Hub and extend our deepest gratitude to the dedicated staff and students who volunteered their time each week. A special thank you goes to Mrs Louise Byron for her unwavering commitment to ensuring the hub's availability.
The Tutoring Hub has been a wonderful resource this year and we look forward to seeing it return in 2025, continuing to provide a space for learning, mentorship, and growth.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to this year’s success.
JPC Annual Vinnies Christmas Appeal
St John Paul II College will once again support the Annual Vinnies Christmas Appeal during Weeks 6, 7, and 8. Each house will contribute four hampers to help those in need this festive season.
PC teachers will discuss the appeal with students during PC time and share a list of items that can be donated.
We encourage all students to contribute generously, ensuring these hampers bring joy and relief to families in our community.
Thank you for supporting this important initiative!
