Message from Nic Whatman, Assistant Principal
Another busy week to start Semester 2 with a number of events occurring throughout the week. On Tuesday we held the Semester 1 Awards assembly which recognised academic excellence and growth mindset awards for students who achieved to a high standard or demonstrated a growth mindset towards a particular subject. These academic achievements for these students are a testament to their hard work over the first semester, congratulations to all students who received academic awards. We also recognised two students in each house for the house respect and house spirit award. Both of these awards recognise students who have embraced their house culture, showing respect and dignity for others in the house, and showed leadership in supporting others. These special awards should be what all students are aspiring for and hence their special nature. Congratulations again to all students.
As we move towards the middle part of the term, we encourage students to continue with their focus on respectful relationships and how they can be of service to others. This term in mentoring the focus is on the ‘hands’ dimension which emphasises the engagement in serving others within the community. For many, this may be being involved in social justice organisations or doing volunteer work. Students can also support our community by being a leader among peers to support them in the College or engaging in various other social justice activities coming in the back half of the year. The ‘hands’ emphasis will be of focus for the remainder of the Term before moving into ‘Spirit’ in Term 4’s mentoring lessons.
This week we also held our NAIDOC week activities. Although NAIDOC week was some weeks ago in the holidays many students participated in numerous activities such as bracelet making, rock painting, and watching ‘Bran Nue Dae.’ These activities were led by our Multicultural Leader Hayley Silcock as well as Courage Leaders Georgia Ellison and Isis Leskien.

Dear Parents and Carers,
You will have received the letter from our Director, Mr Ross Fox, earlier this week, regarding the appointment of the new principal for St John Paul II College, Mr Craig Wattam. If you missed this announcement you can access Mr Fox’s letter below.
We are very fortunate to be welcoming a new principal with such impressive credentials and experience. His appointment certainly promises a great future for JPC as the College embarks on the next phase of its journey.
I look forward to making contact with Mr Wattam over the next little while and supporting his transition into the College.

Senior Economics: Unravelling the Mysteries of Regression Analysis
Our Senior Economics students have been introduced to the world of regression analysis. This statistical technique enables them to understand and predict economic trends more accurately. By examining the relationship between different variables, they can make informed decisions, comprehend patterns, and develop well-grounded insights. This skill will prove invaluable in their future careers and everyday financial decisions.
Senior Marketing: Exploring the Four Ps with Tom Ford and Sephora
In the captivating world of marketing, our senior students have been delving into the Four Ps: Product, Price, Place, and Promotion. By analyzing how these key elements interact, they have gained a solid foundation to understand successful marketing strategies. To make it even more exciting, they have explored real-world examples, such as the marketing strategies employed by renowned brands like Tom Ford and Sephora.
Junior Business Elective: Miami's Magnetic Attraction to Football Players
Our junior students have been discovering the intriguing correlation between market demographics and the migration of top football players to Miami. Through this case study, they have learned how factors like fan engagement, city appeal, and opportunities influence player movements. Junior ILT Study Plan for Week 6 Test
Looking ahead, we want to ensure our junior students are well-prepared for their upcoming test in Week 6. This fortnight’s Interactive Learning Time (ILT) will focus on providing them with a comprehensive study plan, guiding them through key concepts and practice exercises. We kindly ask parents to remind their children of the importance of dedicating time to study and utilising the ILT to excel in their assessments.
Thank you for your continued support in your children's education journey. We are thrilled to witness their growth and enthusiasm as they explore diverse subjects. Should you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.

Bill Turner Cup
Congratulations to our Boys Bill Turner Cup Team, who have progressed to the Round of 16 of the Bill Turner Cup for the second year in a row, following a great win on the first day of the Inter-Area Finals in Albury.
As with last year, they will once again have the opportunity and challenge of being the only non-sports-academy-based College that goes so deep in this competition. This year's team is:
Charlie R (Y10) - Captain, Xavier B (Y9) - Vice Captain, Seth B (Y9), William B (Y8), Carter C (Y9), Christian I (Y7), Valentino I (Y9), Josip J (Y9), Jayden K (Y8), Keaton Li Chiang (Y8) - GK, Bradley M (Y8), Patrick M (Y8), Dylan P (Y8), Lawson S (Y9), Elemeniko V (Y9) - GK, and Jye Wilkes (Y9)

With close to 80 students onstage and behind the scenes, this show is a testament to the creativity and talent of JPC! High School Musical brings the hallways of East High to life with the high energy, humour and lively singing of the well-known Disney songs. A brilliant team of teachers and students have been working tirelessly all year to complete the journey that started at the end of 2021. It’s been a long time in the making; however, High School Musical is worth the wait!

I would like to remind families that students are expected to be in full school winter uniform. Staff will be monitoring uniforms to ensure that our school uniform is worn with pride and all students are in the correct attire.
Students must be in uniform and NOT wearing hoodies (this includes the JPC netball hoodies), no beanies (inside), tracksuit pants or any other modifications to the JPC Uniform.
If for some reason a student is out of uniform, students must present a letter from parents/carers to their Pastoral care teacher and House leaders.
Please refer to the student diary or the policy here if you are unsure.
Thank you
