A prayer for our Defence Forces and Afghanistan
We pray for the protection of our Australian Defence Force members who
are currently deployed to evacuate Australian and Afghan citizens. Protect them with the shield of your strength as they discharge their duties and keep them safe from all evil and harm. May the power of your love enable them to return home safely to their families.
We pray for the protection of the people of Afghanistan – those fleeing in fear, for women and families, for those who have assisted Western forces, and the minority tribes.
We pray for the 36,000 veterans who have deployed to Afghanistan over the last 20 years and for those family members who have lost loved ones or who have had loved ones wounded or emotionally affected in some way.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
