NAPLAN 2021
The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is an organised set of assessments tasks for students across Australia in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9. It provides parents, teachers, schools, education authorities, governments and the broader community to see how our current students are progressing against the national standards.
At St John Paul II College, we use the NAPLAN data and a range of other quantitative and qualitative data, to help assist teachers with additional information for areas of improvement in literacy and numeracy, that are the foundations for learning. They also provide schools, states and territories with information about how education approaches are working, the areas to be prioritised for improvement, and those schools requiring support in teaching and learning.
During the next few weeks, we encourage students and parents/guardians of Years 7 & 9 to use the public demonstration tests to help familiarise students with the type of questions and related functionalities available in the NAPLAN Online assessment. These include Writing, Reading, Conventions of Language and Numeracy.
If you require further information about the tests or you feel that your child will not be able to participate in the testing program, please contact me via email, Michael.Nicoletti@cg.catholic.edu.au by no later than Monday 3rd May.
