Applications for Special Provisions for the ACT Scaling Test (AST) 2025
Special provisions are designed to minimise the impact of a student’s disability, illness, or unforeseen circumstances on their assessment performance. These arrangements ensure that students can access a fair testing environment without compromising the integrity, validity, or reliability of the AST. Special provisions do not provide an unfair advantage, and all students are expected to complete all components of the AST.
If your child requires special provisions, they are required to complete a Special Provisions Application through the BSSS by Tuesday, 1 April 2025. It is important that they discuss their needs and eligibility with Mrs Dwyer and Ms Martin before the end of Week 3.
The application process includes:
- A student application form
- A confidential college report, supported by the principal and based on recommendations from the school counsellor or special needs team
- A confidential medical report from a relevant health professional with current supporting documentation
In some cases, additional functional evidence (such as a recent handwritten essay) may be required.
Please note that the Office of the Board of Senior Secondary Studies is solely responsible for determining eligibility for special provisions or a second sitting of the AST. Some accommodations provided for school assessments may not apply to the AST.
Information and the links in relation to information about Special Provisions for the 2025 AST can be found below and are also available on the Senior Studies Canvas page.
If you have any questions, please contact Ms Martin.
