Teaching & Learning Term 3

Welcome back to Term 3!
This term, students will notice a shift from independent time to more face-to-face lessons, where teachers will be using techniques like full participation activities, daily reviews, guided notes, and oral reading strategies, to ensure every student is engaged and learning. These are all part of the Catalyst program adopted by our school and being used across all Catholic Education Schools.
This term, as a College we will be celebrating, amongst other events, both Book Week and Science Week. These are wonderful opportunities to celebrate creativity and curiosity and to engage in fun activities that inspire a love for reading and science. Students are encouraged to keep an eye on Sentral notices for enrichment opportunities, as they come up throughout the semester, activities such as the ICAS English competition and our upcoming Science Fair.
By Monday next week, Unit Outlines for all subjects will be ready and available to students via Moodle (Junior students) or ACS (Senior students), which outlines assessment dates and types. Students are asked to give parents their login details to Moodle to enable all parents to have access to this information. We recommend students spend time mapping out their assessment and making a study calendar to keep in their locker and at home. This can help you manage your time, stay on top of assignments, and set goals for the term. By setting clear goals and planning your study schedule, you will be well-prepared and ready to succeed!
This semester a team of teachers is exploring the possibility of a new Learning Management System, which will give families greater access and visibility to what is happening in class. More information about this will be sent out toward the end of this year.
We wish all students a successful term and encourage them to reach out to their mentor or teacher if they are struggling with anything at school.
