The Catholic tradition of not eating meat on Fridays is because Jesus sacrificed his flesh for us on Good Friday.

As a Catholic school, we will not be serving meat in our Canteen in Jesus' honour every Friday during Lent. We abstain from eating meat on Fridays as part of our Lenten observance.
